Device overview for your network on Mac: all local, no account, no cloud

DeviceShelf keeps track of the devices on your network. One click and you see what is connected right now, with IP address, MAC, hostname, manufacturer and device type.

What DeviceShelf recognises

Identification draws on several sources at once: mDNS and Bonjour, SSDP and UPnP, SNMP, DHCP fingerprints and the MAC vendor database. From those signals a device is filed as a printer, NAS, camera, access point or smart TV instead of sitting in the list as an anonymous IP address. That thing which has been listed as "unknown" for months usually ends up with a name.

Order in the list

Every device can be renamed, so "android-4f2c" becomes "Tablet kitchen" again. Mark the ones you use often as favourites and they move to the top. When something new joins, DeviceShelf says so, and you decide whether it belongs. A timeline records when something changed.

Over time, not just right now

DeviceShelf follows your devices as they go: reachability and outages, response times, bandwidth, plus a topology view showing which device hangs off which switch port or access point. So you can tell whether the printer really is offline all the time or whether it only feels that way.

A look at the configuration

For your own network, DeviceShelf points out services a device offers that you probably do not need, a forgotten share for instance, or an outdated protocol. It is meant as a tidying-up aid for the network you live in yourself.

Your data stays with you

You create no account and register nothing. DeviceShelf runs entirely on your machine, your device data never leaves it, and there is no telemetry. If you want the detail, the privacy policy on our website breaks down which external services the app can contact at all, and what for.

In your language

The interface comes in German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Arabic. Arabic runs fully right to left, not merely translated. You can switch at any time in the settings.

On every device

Besides macOS there is DeviceShelf for Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, plus a server edition that keeps running in the background and reaches you by email, ntfy, Gotify or webhook. One licence covers all platforms.

Seven days to try every feature without limits. After that DeviceShelf is bought once, no subscription and no running costs.
